I polished a recent model with Novus 2. I have decided that I want to clearcoat. I already have decals on so I don't want to clean with anything very harsh. Has anyone had experience painting directly over a Novus2 polished surface? Thanks for any input

Check the label and see if it has silicone in it. If it does, you probably won't be able to paint over it.

I polish with Wright's Silver Cream, a silver polish that is a mild, water-based abrasive with no chemical component. I could probably paint after polishing with that, but admit that I've never tried.

Time to do a spoon test. Polish a plastic spoon or junk body with your Novus and see if it'll take the clearcoat.

I just did the spoon test Snake spoke of.  I don't know what clear your planning on using but I used Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss Enamel and Acrylic Lacquer.  I polished each spoon with Novus 2 before spraying the clear. This was after one coat. I applied two coats (heavy) and the results were still the same.  It gave it a somewhat of a dull finish.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the quick responses. Spoon test suggestion was helpful. I just did my own spoon test with Mr. Premium gloss topcoat and no immediate adverse reaction.
