ManiacModeler Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 What is the best kit to get a modern Buick small block (350) and non turboed buick V6 from? Any of the buick kits com with a standard tranny?
Mark Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 I can't recall any kit having a Buick 350 engine. The newest Buick V8 is probably the 455 in the Monogram (Revell) '70 GSX. It's 1/24 scale. The newest 1/25 scale engine would be in the AMT '69 Riviera. Their '69 Wildcat had one too, but you are unlikely to trip over one of those any time soon. The '70 Wildcat kit is curbside, no engine in that one. The GSX has an automaric, the Riviera a four-speed. All the modern V6 engines are turbos. The newest non-turbo Buick V6 is in the MPC Jeepster kit.
ManiacModeler Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 The old Buick specials to 64 had the 215/300s and the wildcats small blocks were 340s right?
Mark Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 All of the Wildcat and Riviera kits had the big engines. The AMT '66 Skylark GS had a 401 nailhead.
ManiacModeler Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 Ouch, wish someone would do some of the obscure stuff man, it's a drag when you wanna build something and ain't got the stuff you want.
NOBLNG Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 (edited) This engine is actually a 430 from the AMT ‘69 Riviera that I re-worked a bit to resemble the smaller block since no Buick kit came with a 350. Edited October 2, 2021 by NOBLNG

You talk about obscure I'm only desiring a 34-38 Buick sedan kit someplace near stock. And a stock 1956 Buick hardtop kit. Nobody comes close the either one, ever.
ManiacModeler Posted October 2, 2021 Author Posted October 2, 2021 Price on some stuff:rediculous, waiting for good stuff to come along: an eternity, molding your own: priceless
