I tried some future on a hood. The finish crackled on me and now I need to strip and repaint. What would be the best chemical to strip the future? I am not too worried about the paint underneath as I need to repaint anyway.

Thanks.

Windex (or anything with amonia in it) removes uncured Future. I'd try soaking the hood in it.

Don't even have to soak it. Household ammonia will wash it off right now.

So will rubbing alcohol, but that can damage some acrylics and lacquers, so the ammonia is the preferred go-to in this situation.

Just curious, what paint did you put the Future over??

TransAmMike, the Future was over rustoleum grey primer and rustoleum gloss black that had been polished.

Kinda late  responding to this.   I have to ask tho, I'm sure you did, but after polishing did you remove the polish from the paint before you did the future?

I'll be honest Mike, this was my first time trying polish and future together. I polished the hood, then wiped it well with a clean, soft cloth. Then I put the future on with a wide brush, pretty heavy. The future seemed to run right to the edges and I definitely had a corner that had no future on it. Is there a cleaner I should have used in between the polish and future? Maybe just soap and water?

No problem with time, I've been in and out on road trips for work for the past few months, so not much happening at the model bench.
