majel Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 This is the Revell Wild Willie Borsch funny car built like the cover of the tin box. The scoop and injector are Competition Resins parts. The firewall tin, windshield, and hood cut out had to be modified to fit the injector and scoop. I modified the rear spoiler to match the box art photo. Most engine lines and fittings are from Pro Tech or Top Studio. It also has a Cirello magneto which may not be correct for the car, but the engine isn't the correct 392 either. 2
Zippi Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Nice looking ride so far. Nice engine detail. What color you going with?
majel Posted October 20, 2021 Author Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) It's going to be a custom mix. I started with an acrylic tangerine craft paint and played with it until I thought it was close. I'll test it on a spoon and hopefully it will be good. Edited October 20, 2021 by majel
majel Posted October 27, 2021 Author Posted October 27, 2021 Installed the chassis side panels and I have most of the cockpit finished. I don't know if I raised the rear end up too much or what I did wrong, but the side panels drug on the ground so I had to do some trimming to them. Painted the body, now I have to mask it off and paint the bumpers and rear spoiler. I had to modify the interior tins because for some reason the front end sat up like a gasser! I think I cut too much off the rear tin initially, because after I redid it the front end settled down much better.
papajohn97 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 Beautiful job Jim on the fuel lines. I’ve never had much luck using braided wire lines on car models and you’ve really mastered it, yours look very realistic. Looking forward to seeing this one come together.
majel Posted October 30, 2021 Author Posted October 30, 2021 Body is all painted inside and out, window trim painted silver and bumpers and rear spoiler painted dark aluminum. On to decals and clear coat.
majel Posted November 11, 2021 Author Posted November 11, 2021 Body is decaled and clear coated with Pledge revive it. Just a few more details and this one will be done. 1
Zippi Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Yeah that's looking pretty kewl. I like the finish.
