53gmc Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Started off with the amt diamond reo. Plans are to shorten the frame, convert to single axel from the ford c600 cab over and convert the truck to the 92" bbc with the hood kit from aitm
53gmc Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Going to run one fuel tank on the drivers side and the battery box and air tank left over from my maximum over drive project
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Very cool project!! I built one of these several years ago before Dave offered a resin hood. I’m looking forward to seeing this one finished. You probably already know this, but that Cummins would be tilted towards the passenger side on a short hood truck like this to allow for clearance.
53gmc Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 I saved pictures of your apollo 92 and white 9000 along with the pictures for inspiration and to give me an idea of how things are supposed to look lol
53gmc Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Working on the motor tilt today so i can finish clearancing the cab
Warren D Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 When I did mine, I found that short hood is really short! Good luck, looks interesting.
53gmc Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! Got the motor sitting at an angle and the floor almost cut away. Man that is a tight fit!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 The tilt looks spot on!! Extending the floorboard all the way to the doors will give you more room to work with as far as a dog house goes.
53gmc Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Thanks brian! I might have to try extending floor boards. I did get the dog house mocked up, its not perfect but this is my first time goong this indepth on a build
53gmc Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Man you guys werent kidding when you said the hood is short! Got my shipment from aitm sooner then expected so thats an awesome surprise
gotnitro? Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Wow that is a short hood ! This will be a great project to watch
53gmc Posted November 14, 2021 Author Posted November 14, 2021 Got some more work done this week. Got the exhaust and driveline shortened up to fit, engine and trans painted and built, shaped the rear of the frame to match how it originally was. I also decided to experiment with running some airlines for extra detail. 1

53gmc Posted November 20, 2021 Author Posted November 20, 2021 Modified shifter from parts box and added scale size model box for the drive to build when he gets off his shift!
