Kuumy Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 What is the most realistic paint teqniques for model car tires?
Fat Brian Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Check out armor modeling forums and YouTube for painting tires, those guys have it down. Basically, tires aren't really black. You'll need a dark gray and give it a lighter gray dry brushing and possibly some dirt effect around the treads.
Dave G. Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Also if you look at real car tires or 1/1 as we say, they generally are not covered with gloss paint. 1

Well unless you are modeling a car with the tires just sprayed with a tire protectant spray (like Armor-All, or some other tire spray). Then they are glossy. Many owners do this to their car's tires before they enter a car show. Byt yes, in most cases tires will not be glossy. 1
