TransAmMike Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Looking for tips, suggestions for removing larger glued on body parts from an old kit.
SfanGoch Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 I use HQT Tools stainless scribers and saws. Both have a .3mm kerf and you can get right to where the parts are joined to separate them without damaging the body and only minimal cleanup up the area required. Far better than using the back of a #11 blade.

If you use the scribers, no cutting involved. Wait until you get then and don't be hasty to remove the parts using other methods which might cause damage. 17 minutes ago, TransAmMike said: Did a quick google search, I don't see them sold by any USA company. UMM-USA carries them. They're out of stock at the moment. You can contact the owner, John Vojtech, via the "Contact Us" page and ask him when will the items be restocked. Mr. Vojtech is a very personable and knowledgeable toolmaker/master modeler.
NOBLNG Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 (edited) Tamiya makes similar saws. These measure .006”. What parts are you trying to remove? If it’s a hood scoop, or side scoops, you could maybe fill them with water and put it in the freezer? Edited November 19, 2021 by NOBLNG
