crowe-t Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 (edited) Can anyone who uses photo etch(PE) interior door window cranks post pictures with them installed? I'd like to see how they look and go together. Edited December 8, 2021 by crowe-t
Exotics_Builder Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 This was done about 20 years ago with a Detail Master Set. At the time, there was no base for them, so I drilled a hole and inserted a styrene rod about the same size. Some ferules are now available as an option.
crowe-t Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 Thanks Gerry. I ordered the window cranks from The Model Car Garage. I'll make the small handles from styrene rod but I'm still not sure what to do with some of the parts.

You wind up positioning the parts to get a ferule and knob in some cases. It takes a steady hand. Detail Master also now sells stand offs for handles. The other part of this is removing existing handles/cranks molded into the door cards (if they are there). An example: Edited December 9, 2021 by Exotics_Builder
Exotics_Builder Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 (edited) Remember, in 1/25 scale, 1 mm is approximately 1 inch (close enough in this case). So, it doesn't take much build up to get a door handle spacing or window crank to stand proud. To stand off a door handle about 2 inches would need roughly 7/64 inch spacing. So, think that out in planning your layout. And be patient. Edited December 9, 2021 by Exotics_Builder
