Never a thing as too many projects going on all at once, right? ...right? Haha. I think I’ll be fine as long as styrene doesn’t make its way into other parts of the house.

When thinking of a way to put that Tamiya Mica Blue to a better use, I pulled out my copy of Revell’s most recent ‘97 F-150 Super Cab Flareside reissue and decided to put a custom spin on it. I want it to look like something out of an early 2000’s issue of Truckin’ magazine.

I used the suspension from the Revell F-150 SVT Lightning kit and painted the frame in Rustoleum Navy Blue. The offset 5 spoke mags are from the Revell ‘65 Chevy stepside 2 in 1 kit, and I decided to use the body side swoosh graphics that came with the F-150 kit, albeit without the fat checkered stripe that goes above them. The decals will tie in with the two tone paint job on the body, the lower color being Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf: C6415AF6-19D6-4D49-A417-6445865589E3.thumb.jpeg.8dd230ffedf7619699c20d7fa85b8677.jpeg

Still undecided on whether or not I wanna modify the ‘97 front end or use an SVT Lightning grille and bumper. I will for sure be using the supercharged engine from the Lightning, as well as separating the two tone with a pinstripe and using Tamiya smoke clear on the windows, headlights, and taillights.1871B6EA-6F0D-4670-A076-43CDD922B6C2.jpeg.936439dcc077f306956ab2d1d2391b83.jpegC737357A-9063-4663-B2CA-9C4F515E0C0C.thumb.jpeg.59ab64b56717a81c3c6f9752efdc31ae.jpeg

Thanks, but if you’re hinting at an LS swap, no way man. I’ve seen those engines put into everything from prewar cars to Hondas. We gotta draw the line somewhere, lol.

Go for it man. As Ratt would say, Lay It Down.

Does that kit come with the same lowered suspension as the Lightning kit?

Im not sure, its been forever since I even looked at it. but most likely. Mine lays door and I have to section the front bumper assembly to get it flat front to back

The bumper does hang a little lower than the rockers stock. Either trimming the bumper or putting ground effects on the rest of the truck would get it all even.
