Painted Black Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Looking real good in stock form, like the bed treatment..Don't forget to pick out your door locks with some chrome
Smoke Wagon Posted January 10, 2022 Author Posted January 10, 2022 Thanks for the heads up, got a tiny dot of chrome on each one. Finished up and “under glass” now.
slusher Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Great looking Ford! I may be wrong but a 53 Ford flat head is a light green..
dino246gt Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Looking great! I agree that bumpers to match the grille would look great, better than black to me, but of course it's your truck! Love the look so far though! Sweet flatty too!
Bainford Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Man, that’s a nice looking truck. The grill mods are perfect. In case anyone is keeping score, I’m in the white bumper camp as well. Black will look good, though. Either way, it’s one fine looking truck.
showrods Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Beautiful build. I'm very interested to hear how you did the truck bed: how you did your wood grain; what colours you used for the wood grain; how you painted the metal bed trim; and what the main body colour is. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words. As for your question, the bed floor was painted with a mixture of flat and gloss craft paint (just some generic $0.89 bottles of it that I found at Michael’s). A darker tone was then dry brushed over the base color. The trim in the bed floor was done with silver sharpie masked with tamiya masking tape, and the body color was Rustoleum 2X Colonial Red over Rustoleum red primer. Nothing fancy.

Thanks for the reply. I just got finished watching a build video of the kit on Youtube. This fellow's kit has a significant warp in the hood and the bed cover (he did the custom version). Did your kit have these problems or did he just get unlucky?

dino246gt Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 Beautiful build of that excellent old kit, looks great in stock form!
dragcarz Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Beautiful work Riley, your build is similar to what I built back in 1987. I think your doing a much better job though.
