Anglia105E Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Really good scratch built boxes, Pierre....... Extremely realistic on your cutting mat, so in a diorama setting, such as a workshop or a store room they will appear absolutely real. David

I have now started on the engine hoist you have "requested" ?
Pierre Rivard Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 What David wants David gets. Engine hoist is done my friend! Slow progress on the rest of the stuff. I got going on the small tools from the Fujimi kit... Small tools at 1/25 scale are very, very, VERY small. Cutting them off the sprue, cleanup, painting and the foolish idea to cleanly glue them to work bench or tool boxes. I survived it...barely. My hat's off to the diorama builders. This stuff takes commitment. 1
Anglia105E Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Now that is one serious engine hoist Pierre, and those tools look great ! As you say, these smaller parts in 1:24 / 1:25 scale are tricky to detail and handle. Currently, I am struggling with extremely tiny parts for this 1:35 scale tram car, some of which have proved impossible to cut off the sprue, and many that break while handling gently. Quite a lot of detail might have to be left out of this build ! One part was a working coil spring that had 19 contact points on the sprue..... sheer madness !! David

You might want to make your own spring instead.
Pierre Rivard Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 Weekly progress I finished the big bench that will fill the back wall below the mezzanine. Some parts and tools glued to the top surface and bench glued to the wall I plan to add some wall decoration and the back side of the shop will be set. Some of the boxes and containers that I made in the last weeks have filled the storage unit. Finally I have set up an area for some engine assembly work.
MarkJ Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Wow Pierre, This just keeps getting awesomer and awesomer. The realism is through the roof excellent.
Anglia105E Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Pierre . . . . I like the workbench with the sink in the middle, and also the storage boxes in the rack. We used to call that metal racking ' Dexion ', but that is probably a British brand name. Your realism is off the scale (no pun intended). Well done ! David
Pierre Rivard Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Thanks Mark and David, The car is done and the diorama components are 95% done. I can see the finish line!

Pierre Rivard Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 The last piece of facility fabrication is a wall mount industrial style heater. I scratch built the unit and mounted it to the shop wall
Pierre Rivard Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Moving on to making stuff for the walls I got some license plates in the works (no hubcaps though...) A few decals to be applied over thin sheet styrene The bigger signs are from a Gofer printed vinyl sheet. I cut the individual signs and glued them to styrene for support. Will trim and paint the edges. Finally I have a few body panels, not sure yet what I will do with them, perhaps some wall mount car art of some sorts. Chime in if you have suggestions
Anglia105E Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 The industrial heater is excellent, and also the wiring / wall socket as well. ( all scratch built ). David
Pierre Rivard Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 My final post for the w.i.p. of this diorama. Most of the wall decorations are installed, just finishing the last ones All the accessories and the car are done. I will set up the photo setup and display the finished project in the under glass section in a day or two. 1
MarkJ Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 Pierre, leave a link at this thread to direct us to the finished product in the under-glass forum. Really looking forward to seeing this one finished.
Anglia105E Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 That has all come together very nicely, and you must be well pleased the result. I second the comment by Mark, and this should photograph well. David
