landman Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) This photo from my hometown history site gives me some ideas. I already have the truck. Would need to identify the shovel and attempt to scratch it. Edited February 11, 2022 by landman

It looks like that's exactly what the builder of the 1:1 shovel did. ? Doesn't look overly complicated, with many straight beams, but plenty of cables going every which way.
Mike C. Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 If my grandfather was still around he could probably tell you. He ran a crane on Gwam during the war for the Marines version of the Sea Bees.
Paul Payne Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Doesn't look like steam, but no visible exhaust pipe either- diesel or gas?
Little Timmy Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Possibly custom "kitbashed" by the owner. Pre-hydraulics so my guess is a Marion power shovel, mixed with a Insly model K . ( both pre 1940 ) Just a guess though...

It was identified on a obsolete shovel/excavator site.
