Is there an aftermarket source for these type of GM truck mirrors? I know the Deserter pickup has them in the kit but I wouldn't mind just buying the mirrors alone.

opps. Probably should hav posted this in the tips section.. Sorry

Thanks Mike. Anybody pick up the mantle after they ended?

Not to my knowledge.

I'll try to get to the parts stash tomorrow, I am sure I have a couple of sets that won't be used.

Don Holthaus is a personal friend of ours and we had several conversations about just that. Nobody ever expressed any interest in buying the business once they realized that Don and his wife Carol literally were working Seven days a week to maintain their level of productivity.

Those look nice and only $3.00 a pair but there is no mention of shipping cost to the U.S. Also website is really difficult to navigate. That can't be good for business.

I ordered from him a couple months ago and had no trouble. $12 CAD in parts and a $16 CAD shipping cost. $23 total for the order in US dollars.

While the shipping seems high, the quality for the parts is awesome, so I look at it this way - I was satisfied spending $23 in total for what I got in the end. At first, I grumbled at the shipping cost. But, It’s funny, if the parts were priced higher and the shipping was lower, I wouldn’t have thought twice.

He also sells on eBay. You could check and see the shipping costs there, too. They might be better.

The order arrived within 3 weeks of placing it. Not too bad coming from B.C. to Michigan.

I also saw an 80s 1/25 resin Blazer body . I would imagine you would have to combine it with the deserter kit (or similer) but i dont know where you wild source the rear glass.

Looked the store up on ebay. Something about shelling out 24 bucks to ship a $3 set of mirrors doesn't sit well with me. I could buy the entire Deserter kit for $17.00 at Hobby Lobby, get the same mirrors (already chromed) and still come out ahead. I'd also have al those extra parts for my parts bins. I think I just talked myself into a trip to Hobby Lobby next week. As much as I like to support the little guy, sometimes it's just a matter of $.

Totally understandable. I’d do the same. For me, I was ordering particular CB radios and Air Horns you couldn’t get elsewhere. And, the shipping wasn’t as high. $24? Wow. Maybe that’s why I ordered through the website instead of eBay (my typical first choice, due to simplicity and ease of use), because shipping was cheaper on the website? Anyway, hope it goes well.

That's what we're paying up here in Canada, fellas. eBay shipping these days is frequently $35 per kit. Whee!
Best to bundle your purchases and combine shipping!!
