This AMT kit started out as a quick build since there are only 2 body parts to paint. I thought I could get a quick paint job done, considering the weather. I have built this kit and the Monogram kit before but forgot what a challenge this AMT kit is.  The "A" pillars are too thin, the window trim is not good, and there are lumps in the trunk and left side "B" pillar. So I decided to go another way. I removed all the chrome trim, removed the chrome from the front bumper and grill and rear taillight panel and bumper. Then I decided to paint it two-tone black and silver. No foil on this one and I'll just add a decal pinstripe between the black and silver colors. I'll add a bit of chrome pen to the SS emblems. Here are a few photos of past builds, progress photos, and final painted body. I still need to a clear coat. Thanks for looking!

John it’s been a little breezy so I haven’t painted anything between rainstorm . I have been enjoying yours and everyone else and your builds. I have finished three since my mother died…

Well John, I'm finishing up my '70 AMT kit. My Wife bought the model for me because she realy likes the '70 SS.  You are so right about the issues with this kit. Mine will not be entirely stock either, more "day 2" I'd say.

Thanks, Ray, Carl and Mike! I appreciate your comments!

Rubbed out the body and it looks pretty good. I didn't spend any time on the interior, chassis, or engine. I did install a monitor for the phone, radio, GPS, etc. (LOL). I didn't bother with the door panels as they were so faint I just sanded them off. No wiring on the engine as I am waiting on pre-wired distributors but probably wouldn't use one on this build anyway. I used some Goodyear tires from the parts box so I could save the tampo-printed Goodyears in the Reacher kit. I assembled the engine, chassis and interior and mocked it up on wheels. I may be able to make a small silk purse out of this sow's ear yet! Thanks for looking! ?

This one is done.  added a red pinstripe from the 69 GTX convertible kit to the body sides and it fit quite well.  Box stock except for no chrome trim and two-tone paint. Thanks for looking!
