beeRS Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 That paint job came out really well. Your airbrush finish looks good enough as it is. Probably won’t need much polishing.
mrmike Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Thanks Sonny! I may give it a light polishing to help smooth out the surface some and to bring out the shine a bit more!
mrmike Posted July 1, 2022 Author Posted July 1, 2022 I polished the Mercedes this afternoon. I used NuFinish Scratch Doctor followed by Novus 2 Fine Scratch Remover. I'll use Novus 1 when the model is assembled. This color is gorgeous! I'll have to zip out into the heat and view this in the sunshine! More AMG GT to come...
mrmike Posted July 5, 2022 Author Posted July 5, 2022 Underhood detail is done and the nose is on. First, it was drawn out in paint and then I added the decals. More AMG GT to come...
mrmike Posted July 7, 2022 Author Posted July 7, 2022 Thanks Carl! I have to give thanks to my friend Paul for supplying me with this fantastic paint!
Pierre_tec Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Nice job laying that tri stage! Although seems a bit intimidating; is just paint
mrmike Posted July 7, 2022 Author Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) I thought it was intimidating at first, but that all disappeared when I started painting. It is just paint when used properly. You have to be mindful of air brush pressures and air brush spraying techniques. Edited July 7, 2022 by mrmike
mrmike Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 I've been working on the AMG GT. I added the front and rear clips, headlights, taillights and the carbon fiber roof decal. It may be light and strong, but I hate carbon fiber! More AMG GT to come...
mrmike Posted July 9, 2022 Author Posted July 9, 2022 The interior is complete! More AMG GT to come...
mrmike Posted July 11, 2022 Author Posted July 11, 2022 I went and installed the body and interior onto the chassis, but it looks like I forgot something...the rear view mirror assembly! This took me a while to do since I have yet to install the windows and the mirror assembly didn't want to fit over the two prongs like it should. I must have made a mess of the interior roof. More AMG GT to come...
mrmike Posted July 18, 2022 Author Posted July 18, 2022 I am heading for the finish line with my Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. I had an issue with the rear bumper cover as it was reglued several times with tape holding the bumper on during the drying process and then expanding a little along the fender edges. Not sure how I'm going to fix it. Something to think about. More AMG GT to come...
mrm Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I love that yellow. I hope you can fix the rear bumper without much trouble.
mrmike Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Thanks Michael! I'm sure I can find a solution.
mrmike Posted July 21, 2022 Author Posted July 21, 2022 I have completed my Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP. 1
