My dad would always point out the old pharmacy that he brought his copy in 1964. It made such a impression Just 2 years later he brought his first car. A shiny red super stock 1964 dodge. Boy those were days. I made this cool cover replica with some help from amt and revell. Here’s the parts list

amt/model king 1964 comet which is soon to be reissued

revell 1964 thunder bolt donated it’s chassis drive train, and engine compartment

testors lacquer Wimbledon white, Italian red, and star spangled blue topped with gloss coat

resin hood from mcw

slixx decals

howards wheels are model haus

as always thanks for checking it out, mike

Another fabulous “cover car” Michael! This one might just be my favorite of yours. Look’s like the T-Bolt chassis slips right into the AMT body without much trouble? Did you use the T-Bolt interior? I may just have to copy you on this one if/ when the Comet kit is ever re-issued (ultimate compliment, right?). I better start looking for another Revell T-Bolt and a set of these decals!

My first car was a '64 Comet, unfortunately it looked nothing like that!  As a matter of fact we called it "The Vomit Comet".  Yours looks great!  Good job on all of the cover cars, that was a very cool idea.

This pitcher of the comet next to a t-bolt should help you out with the chassis fit. As for the interior I used the one from the comet, and used the shifter from the t-bolt. I felt the comet interior was a better fit. If I remember correctly the t-bolt interior was to wide, and would take way to much effort / time to make it work. Oh yeah I pirated the header dump pipes from the amt 1962 bel air 8E502BB8-DB62-4E8E-BD67-B1A8A31D4D91.thumb.jpeg.fb07b5030c9e9448529484edd9deb932.jpeg

Thanks Michael for posting the Comet -T-Bolt underside comparison photo. I was surprised that the Comet was that much shorter and narrower than the Fairlane, a little more cutting than I expected. Sure hope Round 2 re-pops this ‘64 Comet kit before I get too old and feeble to kit bash one like yours!
