Jon Cole Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) I need a Ford flathead green. And it has to be a Tamiya spray. Only because my living arrangement makes airbrushing difficult. So, take a look at the pic below. Tamiya military colors I took a few years back at a hobby shop. Anyone familiar with the selection? Is there any one Tamiya color I could drive back there to get?EDIT: Those "AS-" tags may be for the shelf above; not in the pic. Edited June 21, 2022 by Jon Cole
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 The one between the white and the brown is pretty close. And the one to the right between the lighter green and the gray is pretty close too. So many engines got rebuilt, or faded, or heat-discolored, no two are really ever the same these days. Even restorers will argue about what color is "correct". But either of those should be plenty close enough
Plowboy Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) I used TS-9 British Green on one a few years ago. Looked about right to me. I found a photo of the flathead painted with TS-9. Edited June 21, 2022 by Plowboy 2
RSchnell Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I agree with the above posts. The AS-21 is probably the closest match-the one between white & brown. It's interesting to note that original Ford Engine Green varied from batch to batch. I've restored many pre 1953 Fords & have had NOS Ford Model A & early V-8 parts and no 2 parts matched in color.
Sandboarder Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Just note that the AS series of paint are either semi gloss or flat finishes.
