oldcarfan Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I have several of the GT3 road version of this kit and I found the racing version for a decent price. From the pictures I cant see any difference other than decals. Other than the rear wing is there anything in the racing version that makes it worth buying over the road kit?
keyser Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Same kit, just decals. GT2 993 was pretty much race ready, a few had interiors. Kit seems to be Evo. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244574/1996-porsche-911-gt2-evo/ Heres Strassen version (street car)https://girardo.com/car/1996-porsche-911-993-gt2-strassenversion
iamsuperdan Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Rear spoiler is slightly larger on the race version. Haven't looked too hard, but both kits might come with both spoilers. I have both, and can have a look later this evening if you wish. 1
keyser Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) Forgot. Good catch Dan. Evo had slightly lower wing extension, JP series allowed bigger/taller wing stanchions. See link. https://www.racingsportscars.com/type/archive/Porsche/993 GT2.html?page=2 Edited October 5, 2022 by keyser
oldcarfan Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 Thanks for the input. I'll probably go ahead and buy it anyway as it's a good price.
niteowl7710 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 (edited) Also the road car is a road car and therefore has treaded tires, the race car has slicks. Road going version also has a passenger's seat (and the mount it goes on) which isn't in the race car version - which also fills the passenger's side of the car with fire bottles and race computers. iamsuperdan Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 I had a look, and both versions come with both rear spoilers. 1
