Chris Smith and I decided to do this build together, and hopefully I can stay on task and finish it.

This is a model of the 1998 Daytona 24hr winner

First off is a couple of pics of the contents.

Hold on here, you guys building one car together or each building one?  Option one is a test of friendship, option 2 is a competition. Oohh this is gonna be fun!

Pierre, we are each building one.

After cleaning the resin pieces, I test fit the main chassis and body parts

I've been spending time getting all of the holes drilled and pieces fitted up.  A couple weeks ago, I managed to get some paint on a couple of pieces.

Looking good buddy!

Thanks Chris

I've been told that to get your red to really pop, that you should use pink primer.  I've never done that before and figured now would be a good time to try it.

The basic engine is finished, so I checked the fit to the gear box.  Then I assembled the wing pylon.  A bit tricky because it's six pieces that have to be held together while applying CA.

And an even busier bee, Chris

Thanks, James

I got motivated to do more on the engine and gearbox. The engine needs the injectors installed after I get done painting them.

Beautiful work Paul. You did a slight rub of the wheel edges right? Nice touch.

Looks like Mr Smith is getting a little nervous looking at your pace of work...?

But he stepped up his game and caught and passed me....

Stellar work so far!

This looks like a fantastic model to build.

Thank you David.  I have gotten hooked on building Hiro kits.

I laid carbon fibre decals on the interior and got the tub halves assembled.

Thanks David and Chris

After getting the tub together, I touched up the semi black and proceeded to decal the exterior.  That's right, the tub is covered in carbon fibre decals.  Ten different ones.

Once the decals had a chance to dry out, I hit the tub with dullcote.
