LL3 Model Worx Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I started on my Cannonball entry yesterday a Monogram RT/10 My question is, does this kit not come with a back glass or the upper center brake light, or is my kit just missing parts ? Doesn't show in the instructions that I can see, but has locator pins in the top of the "roof" so it seems something is/was supposed to go there. I will say that overall the kit looks fairly nice and is obviously a repurposed Snap kit... the rear drive tail light is a little wonky and some of the mold lines on the body take some serious sanding/shaping but comes out decent. Never dealt with this kit before... all help appreciated.
spencer1984 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 A little bit of guessing here since I don't have that particular release, but the rear window in the first generation Viper was removable and kit/diecast makers usually leave it out as well. Do you have a photo of the pins? Wondering if they may be a remnant of the GTS tooling.
Joe Handley Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I you're talking about the roadster, no, I don't remember that it did, though if it is the GTS Coupe, it should have the rear window with the brake light detail molded in, IIRC.

Thanks, I'll snap a photo when I get home. It's the roadster not the GTS... and I knew it had a removable window, just couldn't figure out why the pins were there and the brake light is missing.

It's been too long since I looked at the roadster kit, but it should have a 3rd brake light since those were on all cars and starting to appear on light duty trucks by then. If I remember correctly, the rear window ons the roadsters were removable and separate from the top and door curtains that the early Viper RT/10 roadsters had.

Definitely no brake light, but has the cutaway for it, or so it seems.
spencer1984 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I did some further checking, and it looks like you should have a part #16 that forms the inside of the roll bar and fits those two pins. And yes, it should sandwich a brake light (referenced as part #81) between the inner and outer halves of the bar. So if you don't have those, it looks like you've got an incomplete kit.
LL3 Model Worx Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 I've got an incomplete kit ? oh well I guess.
