53gmc Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 (edited) Decided to enter my first community build off with this nova. Decided to build the car as if it was a real cannonball car so gonna try to build it some what sleeperish. Started mocking up the car to decide the wheel and tire option Edited January 6, 2023 by 53gmc 2
53gmc Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 Bodys in primer, got the wheels all painted up and assembled. This has got to be one of the worst fitting kits ive done, so lots of fitting and re-fittingÂ
Mattilacken Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 It’s allot more work and som of the fun goes out of the door for me at least when a kit is bad. But hey! The skill you possess will make you push through it! 1

53gmc Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 Trying to decide how i want to run the fuel cells. Between the three cells and the stock tank i figured there should be around 61 gallons ( i believe the cells are 12, 15, and 18 gallon and the stock tank is 16).
espo Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I know it's just a model but, usually fuel cells would be in a secured area away from the driver for safety reasons. 2

53gmc Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Got the engine built. Parts box headers i wrapped, parts box valve covers, High rise intake, and carb. Also added wiring, fuel line, and dip sticks.

Obviously, there are some very lax safety concerns, my hope is that the driver isn't also a smoker, or he could become a smoked. I am enjoying your build anyway. 1

53gmc Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 Im thinking of setting the large tank in place of the back seat area and making a quarter glass filler neck. In reality that should take care of fumes and speed up fueling time. I'd imagine it would be relatively afe being somewhat protected by the roll bar ( except may in a roll over?)
Tabbysdaddy Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Lots of pickup trucks had a gas tank right behind the seat and without modern safety design. This looks much safer than those. Looks cool so far. 2

53gmc Posted January 12, 2023 Author Posted January 12, 2023 I decided to modify the large tank into an even bigger tank rather than run 3 smaller ones. The thought process behind this is to speed up refueling and the weight of the car wouldnt be thrown off as each tank was used up. This is a rough mock up ill smooth it up when everything dries
slusher Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Nice engine, good thinking on your fuel cells! 1

53gmc Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 Got the fuel cell assembled. The fuel filler will exit through the quarter glass. The smaller line is the vent, its looped incase of a rollover
53gmc Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 Decided the stock gauges and dummy lights werent cutting it so i built this insert with racing gauges. Also moved the steering column up closer to where it would be on a 1:1 car. Fabbed up a turn signal switch as well. 1
53gmc Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 First part of the cars equipment to (hopefully) not get caught by the law. I coundnt find any one making gps units or radar detectors, so i built my one out of scrap parts 1
