bauercrew Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Does anyone here use a 3D scanner if so could you post the model thank you
Zippi Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 I don't use one but I've been doing some research on this Anycubic unit. https://store.anycubic.com/products/photon-mono-m5s-pro?srsltid=AfmBOoqD5gwiQHwTDgNKESiQ9ocZWDDRdGO_GALdpl4yH1oIZWe89DAW_xo

I have 2 Anycubic printers and their first gen wash & cure machine, and really like their stuff, but I don't believe Anycubic has a 3D scanner available at the moment. Steve A. I have not had a chance to try either of the attachments, and now the XYZprinting company has ceased operations, so hopefully I won't need any help with it when I can actually get it set back up and running. Due to a few moves in the last few years, I had to put it in storage because of no space to set it up right now. There are a few different scanners on the market, plus I've seen a couple of DIY instructions on building your own, but when I looked into sometime back the limitation I found with them in regards to using them for modeling was that anything smaller than about 1/2" the scanner had difficulties. Plus with any of the scanners you aren't really going to be able to just scan a part and have a file ready to print. There is usually a lot of work involved with cleaning up the scan to come out with a good usable file. And with most things the old phrase "you get what you paid for" really applies to scanners, the less costly scanners are not going to give you the best detail compared to the more expensive ones Steve A.
stitchdup Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 my friend uses an app on his smart phone for scanning. I got him to scan a tamiya vw beetle engine bay yesterday and the scan looked just ok. it didn't pick up the ribs on the firewall and it couldn't get into the dip around the lower pulley to scan it, but it did get the detail on the underside of the bay. I think on our next attempt I'm going to cut the lower piece into 3 slices so they can be scanned individually and then stacked in the drawing program to make the parts.

Your are correct. It is a 3D Printer only.
