Sidney Schwartz Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Saw this on a video, tried it, and love it. Bought one of these circle templates on Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077RTHQ8K?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Placed it on the tire and ran a fine point paint pen around the edge. Result was perfect and took about 30 seconds. Can't beat it with a stick! 3
Joe Nunes Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 That's interesting and looks good. What kind of fine point paint pen did you use? ? Joe
Sidney Schwartz Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 I used a Craftsmart Multi-Surface Premium Oil-based Paint Pen. Flows really nicely. Probably got it at the local Michaels, but I'm sure you can find it online. I also like the Gelly Roll brand of fine points. These pens come in just about any color and are very handy for all sorts of detail work. ? 1
Joe Nunes Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Thanks for the paint pen information. Didn't realize that the pens existed and will look for them when I go into town today. ? Joe
peteski Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Looks good, but there is a possibility if that is an oil-based pant pen that the paint will never truly dry on a vinyl tire. Some sort of chemical incompatibility. That was a problem with (oil based) Testors enamels.
Leica007 Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Nice job on the tire, looks good. Thanks for sharing, will have to pick one up.

deuces wild Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 Maybe if you thin the enamel paint with lacquer thinner, it might dry a little better...
Sidney Schwartz Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 And another reason to love fine point pens...used one for the fake wood on this interior. Looks good! 1
