customline Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 I wouldn't want to change out the plugs, Steve. Maybe from underneath ?. Headers look good. Any street exhaust coming?
Slotto Posted April 8, 2023 Author Posted April 8, 2023 Yeah Jim, I plan to run a standard hot rod exhaust. I did something new this time around Can you spot it? 1

Slotto Posted April 9, 2023 Author Posted April 9, 2023 It's the return spring. It's a thin gold wire plucked from the mini earbuds. I coiled it around a straight pin. Pretty easy

Pretty easy I remember some years ago in the old SA forum I saw a tip for a return spring using the element from a tail light bulb. I still have a couple of those bulbs in my junk box. Never did do it.?

Steve H Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Coming along very nicely Steve! Nice details on the engine. Cheers, Steve 1
Bills72sj Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 Nice progress. You build reminds me of my little 67 Mustang GT build. Solder headers were a tight fit because a 427 Ford Cammer is big in a Mustang engine bay. I did the mini tub by cutting strips inboard and adding material outboard, 1
Slotto Posted April 11, 2023 Author Posted April 11, 2023 Side tracked again. Playing around with some wire, styrene and stick pins. I drilled a small hole in the side of a carburetor and cut a small piece of styrene and added 3 holes. I used earbud wires for the return spring and throttle cable. I then attached the styrene to the carburetor with a stick pin and some CA then painted everything up. I'll use these on future builds. Maybe I'll add a mini R/C motor...
Andy Oldenburg Posted April 11, 2023 Posted April 11, 2023 impressive ideas Steve, and good crafting! You go that extra mile to make wheels spin AND turn. For my last few models I was tired of wobbly wheels and now I glue them put. But your build makes me think it over again. Waiting to see what comes next! ?? 1
Slotto Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Got some color over the weekend and a clear coat yesterday. I'm nervous about sanding thru the clear but it really needs it. Tons of orange peel 1
Slotto Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 The entire car pretty much looks like this... So I wet sanded with 3000 grit and lightly went after the roof. Then used Meguires Scratch X 2.0, follow up with Novus 2. Result... not quite happy, again with a wet 3000 then just Novus 2 this time. Sorry folks I know there are other products available but I went with what I had on hand. I can live with this 1
Slotto Posted April 28, 2023 Author Posted April 28, 2023 The whole body got the once over again. This will be the last time. Wet 1500, wet 3000 and a healthy dab of Novus 2. Afterwards I rubbed in some Pledge. 1
Andy Oldenburg Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 My heart is bleeding.... fortunately I have never had it this bad. I can imagine how much work this meant and how aggravated one can get. But it looks like your on the right track again? Waiting forward to seeing the final build! Good luck Steve. 1
Slotto Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 another step closer. Foil and Interior is done as well as the exhaust. It was kind of a hodge podge since the headers were a home brew. I used the pipes and mufflers that came with the kit and bent up the rest from 12 AWG wire. I covered the pipes, mufflers and wire with a silver sharpie. A couple more days and she will be in the display case.
