fiatboy Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Hi. Anybody ever build this kit, the 1/25 Ford Galaxie '7-Litre'? Are there any major flaws I should know about? In '66, my Dad and I went to the Ford dealer for him to order a new company car. I saw one of these in the show room, red, with the big '7-Litre' badge on the front fender. But my Dad needed a more basic 4-dr. vehicle. But I tried mightily to get him to order the '7-Litre', all to no avail. Of course Jay Leno has one of these he restored. Is the Cammer engine in the kit any good? Thanks
Rob Hall Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 It's an oldie, built a couple of them...I remember it sits low in the rear when built out of the box and the rear bumper is difficult to attach. But it had nice crisp tooling and badging, has the optional 427 cammer w/ lots of chrome parts, and optional race car parts...
Bob Ellis Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Both the 1966 and 1965 Galaxie kits are nice. The 427 Cammer engine was probably going to be offered to the public to satisfy homologation racing rules . Just like the Boss 429 was never put in a 1970 Torino or Cyclone. AMT had already produced the kit.
Monty Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Wish I knew what AMT's rationale for change was but the '65 Galaxie had a decently detailed chassis with poseable front wheels, while the '66 had a separate exhaust but utilized two wire axles for the wheels. Some time ago we had a Brazilian member (LoveFordGalaxie) who built some of these and did a fairly good job. Hopefully some of his pics still exist on here.
stavanzer Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I wonder what happened to LFG? I know he stopped building for a while, but came back. I hope he is okay.
