Saw a video of someone building this kit and it made me wonder who made it originally.

If I understand it correctly, Atlantis bought up a bunch of old molds from a number of different model companies and is now offering them for sale under their own name. 

So is the kit above based on this?

I'm going with this theory because both kits feature opening doors, hood and trunk.

It has a reputation of being tough to build…but I’ve got a couple here in the queue and I’m excited to test my skills and make something awesome out of them.

Actually, I need to pick up a third…because I want to build one box-stock-ish, the gasser version on the Atlantis box art AND something inspired by that Revell lowrider art too.

The assembled models at the Atlantis table at NNL East looked pretty good. I built one a few years ago, it came out pretty good. Make sure you start with unwarped parts, and resist the temptation to try to re-engineer the thing. It is what it is. But do look at the hinge parts during assembly, and do what you can to keep the doors from sagging when opened.
