Apparently I have an account

I tried to sign up, but it says I already have an account. I don't recall ever setting one up

I would think that since you were able to post this message, you have an account and are already logged in.  ?

I had a look and the account you just posted with appears to be your only one. 

No other accounts attached to your email address or IP address.

I think wait happen was when you signed up the system generated 2 requests. When the second occurred the system told you you already had an account. Occasionally when posts are made the system will duplicate them.
