Ace-Garageguy Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 (edited) I think it's pretty obvious the federal government should pass laws forbidding anyone from owning boxes marked "ACME", explosives in any form for any purpose, magnets, bird seed, detour signs, catapults, anvils, and hot air balloons, and all these items should be confiscated on a nationwide basis. According to multiple studies that ignore or willfully misinterpret easily accessible data, this will solve the coyote crime problem. Edited May 10, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy TYPO 4
1972coronet Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 I love it when people get their knickers in a knot whenever they see or hear coyotes around here. Such hysteria and hyperbole ! One of me neighbours mentioned, "There's a bunch of coyote s__t everywhere !". So, I enquired as to how she knows for certain it's coyote s__t , to which she answered, "because [the coyotes] are here !". So, I asked how she knew it was coyotes' dung, and not from one of the countless dogs around whose caregivers don't clean up after. Then I said, "You can tell coyote dung apart from dog dung by its smell: coyote scat smells like bacon and maple syrup." I wonder if she ever got 'er sniffer close enough to give the spoils the sniff test ? 4
SfanGoch Posted May 10, 2023 Author Posted May 10, 2023 National Lampoon was the first to write a parody on this. It was a two-part story in the September and October 1982 issues. Speaking of coyote sightings, this happened in March. Coyote takes casual morning stroll through Queens 1
Brian Austin Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 (edited) That sign indeed funny. My hometown FaceBook group has regular Coyote alarms from concerned citizens. Coyotes have been around for a while, but development is only making things worse. Coyotes may be getting more aggressive and less fearful of humans, and may be out and about earlier in the day rather than just at night. I haven't heard them lately, but I have heard their nightly chorus several times over the years. I even recorded snippets of their serenade. Here's a local example of an Eastern Coyote...
