Katsusauce Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Pretty much box stock with a few detailing here and there. Some P.E., maybe an aftermarket set of wheels, and lots of Kandy paint!
Katsusauce Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 (edited) Silver metallic flakes used as a base. Kandy "Pineapple" on the motor, and lots of chrome. Zero fog thanks to Stevens International Maxi Cure C.A. Edited July 5, 2023 by Katsusauce 2

Katsusauce Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 (edited) Dash and steering wheel painted with "Seductive Blue" over "Snow White" Box stock decals for the gauges. Hasegawa "Mirror Finish" film was used for the trim, radio, speaker grille "Slate Grey" flocking on the floor, and MOONEYES P.E. pedals. Katsusauce Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 "Seductive Blue" over "Snow White" Flames are "Miami Beach" over "Snow White" with "Mutant Ooze Green" in the flame hoops. No clear coat yet. I used Lazy Modelers 1950 Ford flame mask. 6
espo Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Great looking engine and chassis detailing, and colorful also. 1
Andrew McD Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Love all the color choices and the detailing of the engine compartment. Impressive flame job; a real hottie on the Fourth of July!?. I'm currently building the same kit which I'm quite enjoying. Though I've not managed to incorporate as much detail work it's still a satisfying build. 1
beeRS Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Fantastic work. This is coming together very well. I love, love, love those flames. 1
Katsusauce Posted July 7, 2023 Author Posted July 7, 2023 Finally standing on her own. Just a few more parts to install, and she'll be done. 4
Rattlecan Dan Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Just TOO Groovy. What a cool looking sled. Fine job. 1
customline Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 In my opinion this kit is one of Revell's very best and I wish I could find one at a reasonable price. Beautiful work on this one, Derek! Love it! 1

Beautiful work on this one, Derek! Love it! I agree, this kit does have its little quirks....but overall the Revell 49 Mercury assembles and builds very nicely. The details are very nice. Having the chassis and floorboard as separate pieces is a beautiful bonus making it easier to do custom painting under the car. Although I personally went nuts with the painting and metal flaking, this kit was really enjoyable to build. 2

It was a choice between this one and the AMT '70 Impala, both on clearance. I had already built the Merc once so I opted for the Chevy in the big flat box. Big mistake. ? That was the last time I have ever seen this kit on any store shelf. I still scout Ebay for one but it seems like a waste of time. 1
H.A.K Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I like the wheels you chose. Gives that old 70s custom look. 1
