All I did on this one Ryan, was to re-drill the holes in the wheel hubs off-center a bit in order to raise them in the wheel wells. You would have to do something different if you’re using the stock wheels. Sorry for the late reply.? I sympathize on the paint. Lately my stuff goes that way too. It's nothing you can't fix. A lot of my paint problems are technique related, and I don't think I will live long enough to get really good at it. When they turn out good, it's pure luck. ? Thanks Jim! That is my issue with paint too. I never do anything the same way twice, so I never haven’t developed a “system” that guarantees results.? Edited September 20, 2023 by NOBLNG
Slotto Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Great color and finish. Amazing how you painted the emblems. Or are they decals?

The ones on the fenders conformed beautifully over the molded in features.? I sanded the molded in letters off the front though because I figured there was no way I could get the decal to sit perfectly on top of them without destroying it…even if the letter spacing was identical.? But.....I think I did pretty well yesterday airbrushing two bodies despite my low grade equipment. I really need to up-grade my airbrush setup. My Christmas present this year maybe ?. My rattle can experiences lately have been iffy also but everything needs to change. I think I need to explore acrylics more and some of us here are having success with "craft" paint. I have, in stock, some MCW paint I'm afraid to use over Tamiya fine surface primer because I read it's pretty hot and that great primer is pretty thin. It's a very confusing subject ?. I think I need to establish a system that works for me and hope I can keep getting the paint I want without it becoming obsolete. I'm stuck between what I know and what I don't. This used to be simple.
NOBLNG Posted September 23, 2023 Author Posted September 23, 2023 (edited) Well I added the foil behind the seats and the doors that I missed. Then I got the interior in place and discovered that the glove box panel between the seats doesn’t sit flush like it should. So I carefully extricated the interior and carved down the section between the seats about 1mm and reassembled it.? I still have the windshield frame and glass to install, but not tonight. It’s too bad there is no quality control or cleanup of the parts before plating.? After paring all the barnacles off this windshield frame and smoothing the mold seams it is not possible to touch it up in my opinion. So…it’s in the pond right now, and once it is down to bare styrene I will try that new Revell chrome paint on it. Edited September 23, 2023 by NOBLNG 1

About your issue with the panel between the seats. Could the floor covering be stopping the part from sitting flat? Maybe just scraping a little flocking to clear a clean glue point for the panel.

I have searched finished builds of this kit on here and although not as bad as in my photo, none of them seem to fit perfectly. I think my solution works well, but in the future I will do more test fitting before painting everything. Edit: I suppose it is possible that I didn’t have the seats located properly…but I think I did.? Edited September 23, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
customline Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Looks like you got it! Nice finish, Greg. Very nice.

NOBLNG Posted September 29, 2023 Author Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) Well I am pretty much finished with this one. I tried painting the windshield frame with the Revell chrome paint and it didn’t seem to want to dry…it looked fantastic when first sprayed, but by the time I installed the glass it looked like…not so good.? So I wound up foiling it instead. More pics here:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/185386-revell-‘62-corvette-roadster/ I really was disappointed with the side mirror as it was supplied, so I re-shaped it a bit and painted it with Molotow. That is pretty much it for this one. I just have to make up some plates for it now. Edited September 29, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
customline Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 YES! Pin it! I am a huge advocate of pinning. I pin everything that won't run away and try to escape. Mirrors, starters, anything small but not too small for a #75 drill bit. You are looking freaking awesome, Greg. Really nice Vette!
dino246gt Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Looks great now! That panel between the seats looks SO much better fitted by you. It's a real beautiful car man, I love it!
