Massive SPAM attack 2.0

I went to check the s I te earlier to find the spam bots were clogging up the board.

A big shout out to the mods for cleaning up the mess.

OK....I don't get the motive for these spam attacks other than ego.  Posting a bunch of phone numbers over and over??? I don't see a profit model, I don't see virus' or malware in posting phone numbers?? So other than attacking a small forum of a small hobby for kicks......I do not get it???

Anyone know the why???

Maybe time to change the way we screen new members.

We will need to lock the forum down, it will make it slightly more inconvenient for the regular members, as well as new (actual) members looking to join.

It's unfortunate that there are people who persist in these attacks.

Doesn't seem very smart to attack this site when everyone has multiple knifes.

I saw another spam attack a little. I'd rather have to deal with necessary countermeasures than have to deal with a flood of junk posts. The bots can create mayhem in a short period of time.

Related to the inability to page advance?  Timeline is about right for stuff not working as it should.
