Mark, my first time stopping by so I just took an enjoyable tour through the entire build. Beautiful work. The chassis is looking great and the top half of the engine is fantastic. And it's old news now, but the paint work is impressive. One of your best yet. This is shaping up to be one awesome stock car.

Scratch building a carburetor... never seen that before. No resin cast or 3D printing shortcut for this builder. In this shop we make our own parts!

Air cleaner pretty much done. I'm glad I glued the carb on with Elmers because it's going to have to move forward a little to make room for the distributor.

Coming along nicely. Might want to lift the cleaner up an inch or so, to get it off the valve covers.

Thanks Donato. The air cleaner is held on by a rod in a hole in the top of the carb so it can be set at many positions. When the hood is shut it won't even be on the carb. It will be in the right front floorboard. It won't be glued on.

This is progressing nicely - making the parts yourself.

Question - if you need to remove the air cleaner for hood clearance, will you have clearance for the distributor?

Thanks, Ken for stopping by. I will make sure I have clearance for the distributor. One way or the other.

Started cutting the fan belt assembly apart before I took a picture of it, so I placed it back together. I had to relocate the alternator and add a bigger pulley to the front of it. I will have to change it to a dual fan belt setup between the two big pulleys. I will also have to add an oil pump that will be scratch built to the lower left side of the engine and then connect it to the lower pulley with a small pulley added to the front of the large pulley. I made a distributor, and it fits in the hole at the back of the manifold. I will decide how high it will sit and also finish the top part of it later when I know exactly where the air cleaner will end up.

More work done on the pulleys and fan belts. Made the fan belts by sanding down a small square rod probably reduce them a little more when I get them all installed.

Almost done with the front of the engine. Then I just need to fix the left valve cover and add two breathers to it. Then prime and paint and get the engine less headers completed.

That engine is a sculpture in styrene!

Thank you, Ken. I really appreciate that comment from a master modeler like yourself. Thank you for dropping by.

Started on the valve cover breathers but I lost one of them so I will have to start over on that one. The one I did not lose actually turned out pretty good. will post the finished ones when I get that done. I'm sure I will eventually find it some day in some crazy place I would have never thought to look.

Finally got two breathers almost done. Just need to do a little more sanding. Getting really close to primering all the engine parts and then painting and assembling something.

Finally have all the engine parts done and either installed or need to paint first before I can install them. Like I said, the air cleaner will remain removable, but I can pose it higher than where its sitting in the picture below. The breathers almost touch the hood when it is closed but if I have to, I can make them a bit shorter. Mockup as I did, I still had a lot of fit issues with the engine.

Very impressive scratch building !

Thank you, Edgar. I really appreciate you stopping by to weigh in with such a positive comment.

Got all the engine parts primed and ready for paint. Hopefully I can get it painted and assembled and maybe even install it in the chassis. That would go a long way in getting this thing finally finished.

I need to have a chrome air cleaner, so I tried to paint it with one of those chrome pens. It turned out terribly. I then decided to use bare metal foil which you can see wasn't much better. If I could get Revell chrome it would probably look pretty good, but I can't find anybody who stocks it here in the U.S.

Great news, I was able to order the Revell Chrom spray from Model Roundup today. I've been wanting it for a long time and finally will have it. It should improve the look of the air cleaner and the wheels on the build. Will just need a low humidity day to get outside and spray them. Thanks Dave B for letting me know about it. So much appreciated.  I tried to order it yesterday, but a recording told me to leave my number, and they would get back to me. Well, I did not hear anything the rest of the day and thought, oh well I guess it was too good to be true. But the voice on the message called me back today at 11 this morning and was so helpful to me in placing the order.  Will definitely be purchasing more from them in the future.

Got the first painting of the engine done and will need to do some touchups with a tiny brush where the paint overlapped. I also will go back over the whole engine with dull coat varnish. It's just too glossy even though this is Vallejo acrylic paint. I will cut off the valve cover breathers and repaint them with the Revell Chrom when it arrives.  Might take as much as 4 to 5 days to get it because it has to be ground transported because it is flammable.
