michelle Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 this is a 3d printed 1/24 scale customized 1970 ford maverick model I painted the rims and tires are from a 1/24 scale jade die-cast model as this model file did not have wheels with it and none of my normal modern plastic model car kit rims and tires would fit it they were all to narrow in tire tred width I painted the body testors extreme lacquer lime ice and hand painted the windows headlights taillights grille and lower air dam and tail light panel I used a silver sharpie for the window trim and tail light panel decoration and side pipes
karbuildr Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 One of my favorite Testors lacquer colors. Those wheels are very cool. Good show.

Icy Blue is another favorite. I have all three you mentioned and so far only used the Electric Pink.
Slotto Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Wheels and tires are perfect for this build. I find most times die cast doners wheels are too big. This looks right

This looks right This 1/24 scale model is closer the jada 1/24 scale then to actual plastic model kit 1/24 scale is so that is why the wheels work so well on it Edited December 1, 2023 by michelle

Sledsel Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Pretty cool looking build. Funny, I have been on a green kick on getting builds ready and recently painted a kit that color.

RichCostello Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Is this what 3D printed bodies look like? Don't think I'll be getting any of those!

This is not a good example of 3D printed bodies most people who sell 3D printed kits and bodies use uv resin printers and the quality is the same as resin casted models kits and resin casted bodies

Also most model kit companies use 3D resin printers to make the masters for the molds for their plastic kits nowadays and Hollywood now uses them for making the props for shows and movies as they can print a great many of them for relatively cheap price so if one goes missing or get broken it is easy and cheap to replace there is even a company that make full sized houses with the interior walls and floors and even counters printed with a 3D concrete printer
