bobss396 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I was planning on using the '70 Ford cop car kit to make the '71 Ford from the movie White Lightning. Does anyone make aftermarket '71 conversion pieces? Thanks. Likely it would cover the front grille and possibly the rear bumper. 1
Can-Con Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 The problem with that is the '71 body is pretty well completely different then the '70. I don't think they share any body panels. That said, there were resin kits of the '71/'72 as well as 3D printed examples.
TarheelRick Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 If you do build the Galaxie from "White Lightning", assuming it is the movie starring the late Burt Reynolds, will it be a 4-speed or an automatic. The soundtrack is definitely a four-speed, but when he parks it in front of his house he puts it into "Park". 1
bobss396 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Thanks. I will check out Resins. But... heck, I'll build it as a '70. I saw a couple of those cars with 4 speeds.
Bills72sj Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 The 2nd car I ever owned was a 71 Galaxie 500 4DR. It had a 400M and regularly spanked my buddy's 69 Mustang which had a 351 Windsor. 1
bobss396 Posted January 4, 2024 Author Posted January 4, 2024 There was a parts store that used a '69 or '70 as a parts chaser. It was a factory 4-speed AFAIK. The driver said it had a 429 in it. When I raced the '72 Torino stock car, we would seek out the older 429 engines, they had the better heads and a higher compression ratio over later ones.
slusher Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 When Burt gets in the 71 it shows a Hurst 4 speed. They always have a couple of cars extra…. 1
kelson Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Just to add.......... this is the resin conversion a 3d print would probably be more accurate. 1
