RodneyBad Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Great looking Honcho. Love the paint colors and paint job.
Dragon7665 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Great Looking Honch so far Blvd Can't wait to see it finished!!
Mad Slammer Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Looks like a good start, I built one a couple of years ago, and it turned out great. Keep us posted!
blvd1968 Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 Been gone but now i am back. and back to work on the jeep. axles done and now on to the suspension.
Foxer Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I like that paint .. and the rattle can suspension is awesome!!
crispy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Nice work and beautiful color scheme. These Jeep Honcho's are just plain cool trucks. So much you can do with them. Look forward to seeing you complete yours. I've built one as a kid and have recently gotten another one to build again. If memory serves correct, it was a pretty easy kit to build and fit well. Chris
Lownslow Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 That is sweet.. what kit is this exactly? its one of those revell road rats kit. i was impressed by the honchos detail
blvd1968 Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 OK got the leaf springs done need to make shocks and leaf perches. to tall?
crispy Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 My own personal opinion, yes, I think it's too tall. But hey, you're building it so make it like you want. You're really moving along on this project. Chris
Chuck Most Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Too tall? That's like too low- can there really be such a thing?
george 53 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Abel, I really don't know the geometry behind lifting them so hi, but I think you'd want some sort of trailing arms in the rear an wishbones up front, just to make sure things stay aligned! But it does look the part.
HELP S10XtremeSR Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Looks great. It's not too tall, but the tires are too small. Try and maybe go with the 49 inch iroks, or maybe someone is making the 54 inch boggers?
riz Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Yeah, it looks too tall..... Maybe bring it down so the tops of the tires are just below the wheel well openings / rocker panel height.
Blue coyote Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Yeah, it looks too tall..... Maybe bring it down so the tops of the tires are just below the wheel well openings / rocker panel height. From a "reality" standpoint, I agree. With that much arc to the leafs, they'd have no flex at all. As the suspension cycles, the length of the spring needs to go somewhere, and the way its set up it would rip the shackles out on the first pothole or rock With a lot of lift like that, you'd probably also want to add some sort of bars to stop the axles from just twisting right off the perches the first time the gas pedal is touched SWEET looking truck, though!
blvd1968 Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 worked out the suspension trying these tires out.
Kenny Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 That looks great!! You're going to inspire me to build something!
S10XtremeSR Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Now IMO the bigger tires make all the difference. I am loving this build. Does the suspension travel a lot?
Chuck Most Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Are those the Weld Mountain Crusher/49" Iroks from So Real? I used a set of those on an AMT-Model King '79 F-350, and I loved 'em! I only wish I'd have bought eight or nine more sets...
