Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 (edited) Started with the Testors 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona Using the 2dr conversion from Time Machine Resins. The 2 dr is on the left, and the 4dr is on the right. The Testors Charger has the interior as seperate pieces. The resin one has the headliner and side posts molded in. The bottom of the resin car was a little thick, so instead of filing away from the car, I made the chassis fit the car. I realized its the orange that is making the haze on the picture so I put the body behind the chassis. Went ahead and painted the chassis Huggar Orange to match the body. upon doing this I used the last of my orange paint... Here is the chassis almost complete. Continued in next post. Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Continued... Heres this bad boy all dressed up I love the difference in hoods. Some test fit shots. Interior is almost done.
diymirage Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 thats a great idea i like it dont forget to ad some welds to the doors and a CB to the interior
george 53 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 She's lookin good there Clay! Not too crazy 'bout the spoiler, but that's just me.The hood looks GREAT. Looks nice, like the old AAR Cuda hoods. This is gonna be a REAL nice build when she's thru! Keep it up Bro! Semper Fi!
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Thanks for all the complements guys. George I think the spoilers give it a more sporty look. I dont think that cars that have spoilers look right without them. Like mustangs for example.
roadhawg Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 This is one of the coolest builds I've seen in awhile. Very clever idea, sir, and just to show how much I like it, I made you the rear tag. Its a copy of the real General Lee tag, but I made it say "06" instead of "76". Just reduce it to the correct size, and print it out on photo paper.
george 53 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Clay, just noticed in the pic on the box, that it does have a spoiler. Your right looks better onna 2Dr. than a 4. Also, is that a hole in the top of the right quarter panel? Is that stock? I'm assuming it's for the gas filler door? kinda like the 68/70 Chargers?
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Sweet Thanks. All I need are some General Lee decals. I have used all of mine.

On the stock one its on the side.
vizio93 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Wow i can already tell that's going to be a cool build. what kind of wheels are you going to put on that bad boy? good luck!!!
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 All I have ot put on it is the wheels and tires that come with it.
vizio93 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 oh i was thinkin maybe some low profile tires and some 'not to big' flat black wheels just a suggeston
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 (edited) Ok guys, I got the interior almost done. I got the kit side panels in while the resin panels are drying. I hope my paint job comes out as nice and smooth as the topo of the dash. Got some more mock up pictures. I think this will turn out great. The engine has so many parts... Got alot of parts to paint and install. Edited March 28, 2009 by Clay
vizio93 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 wow clay that looks great i like the interior you did a great job on it are you going to put the rebel flag on the roof and if so how?
diymirage Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 in my honosut opinion, that car just wouldnt look right without a set of turbines doest have to be the exact same ones as the first general lee but maybe an wheel that looks like it ws inspired by them ?
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 I would put those on, but these came with the kit and I dont know where to find a modernized version of them. Plus I will not put a set from the original issue kit on this. Those were horrible.
Clay Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 I got the engine done. Too bad it will be covered up. More mock up pictures. This one is moving right along. I better slow downb or it will sit waiting for paint. Its almost done anyway. All that is needed is to detail the interior, and paint the car itself and aquire General Lee decals.
Raul_Perez Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Clay, That's looking really nice!! Keep up the good work!! Later,
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Kewl. glad you showd the engine, I got one In a parts deal and didnt know what the heck it went to, I like the 2 door, course they never made a 4 door, till now, this is really kewl man, look'n good...
duck_tape187 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 just my opinion but i would have put and old hemi motor under the hood. its a shame that all that hard work is covered up under the hood
Spike Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 nice work clay. send me a PM with your addy, i got the decals for ya
59 Impala Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 She looks great so far Clay. To bad Chrysler missed out on a good lookin car. The Charger should have been a 2dr in my opinion. I'll keep an eye out for this one that's fer sure. Dan
Jordan White Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Like the idea of a modern rendition, I believe the guys at West Coast Customs did a version too. Oh, and you don't necessarily need to have the engine cover on.
