I sprayed the trailer this morning, Rustoleum white enamel that  was sourced locally. I expect the paint to take several days to cure enough to handle, then start adding the plumbing and lights.

That’s an impressive trailer!  I’m still intrigued by the laser cut panels.  Do you know anything about the equipment used to cut the panels?  Would be interested to find out.  Thanks

Looks good in white Jeff.

Thanks ! I kept changing my mind about color..yellow or white. Finally settled on this

@BK9300 honestly unsure what equipment was used to cut the sides out. If I hear anything I'll let ya know for sure

After reading about all the issues people have w Rustoleum paint, I can now see why it shouldn't be used. When Line-O-Tape peeled it off in sheets, I almost stripped the entire build. I decided to push thru the problem, I'm too far along now. A couple touch ups will suffice.20240816_220545.thumb.jpg.41f07774fac62ec2df963376c1a4d74c.jpg

CTM trailer lights and reflectors set worked perfectly, and gives a modern look I really like.20240816_220535.thumb.jpg.99f1101259a01e9a9933f6e37b5baf8f.jpg

I'm not building a show trailer, more daily used kinda build. The hopper was sprayed w a random mix of tamiya paints, creating a old steel base color. More rust and dirt tones will be added over this, then the entire trailer a dusty wash. I hope it turns out like I plan...nothing like screwing up a build after months of work if it goes south!

Thanks for following along!

Looking good, Jeff!  Where are getting your red and white reflective tape from?

Thanks

The reflective stripes were from  Line O tape, the last roll I had. Found out they closed their doors too..lousy news

I could source more from rolls of tape available at hardware stores, and have enough for 5 lifetimes lol

It’s scarce - last bit I have I was from Moluminum, but that was a long time ago - thanks

I bought out the last stock from Line-O-Tape years ago.

He was based out of Kettering, Ohio and he told me there wasn't much demand for the items and he had a few left, so he sent me what he had left over.

I have 1/87, 1/25 and 1/16 scale tape.  It is actually reflective!

Keeps getting better with every update Jeff! When I started on my last roll of Land-o-Tape I tried to get more and found out they were not selling it anymore and not sure what I’m going to do when I run out. Jeff are you planning on adding a retractable load cover?

Thanks everyone for your feedback I really appreciate the comments. Such a loss not having the reflective tape available now, after what seems like a renewed interest in trucks/ trailer builds.

@Mopar - D I won't have a retractable tarp, just a set of sideboards around the hopper.

I realized an error after hanging the doors, dummy mistake too. I didn't leave enough room for paint on the cylinders so they bind up right now. I'll tweak those then be back w a fair update

Well, the trailer is almost finished! Just need to adjust some sloppy weathering, and make a couple decals. I don't care for the yellow appearance I noticed after the photos were taken..easy fix.20240911_142251.thumb.jpg.cf04c5ffa04f2ec604aa425b53e34863.jpg

The working portion of the trailer is my favorite. Its done w multiple layers of pigment powders, different shades of very thinned paint, and damp rags w thinner to remove base colors.20240911_141418.thumb.jpg.64be42a621a7b2afbe93e7a0b5ae7dd2.jpg

Thanks for everyone following along! I promise I'll wrap up the KW soon

These trailers are tough as hell, to take the weight of a full load.  Yours looks like it's had a few hard miles already - great build!

Impressive build, great topic, well done. Gonna look good behind that T800.

Thanks I wanted a daily used look after watching clips of these trailers in use. They get dragged thru worse conditions then NY pot holes

I'll add some minor dust around the chassis to sell the theme, but keeping the truck clean. Thanks for following along on this build...it took months longer than I planned.
