I found this in a box with my 1/16 kits.

I don't  even remember building it but I imagine it was a gift from my wife at some time.

Anyone recognize the kit??

Very cool Johnny.  The MPC funny cars may not have been as detailed as Revell offerings but they built into nice pieces nonetheless.  Really nice example you got.  Thanks to Gerald for showing us the source!

I remember that kit being on the store shelves. I never purchased one as I was mainly into street cars, circle track and trucks. I can see now that I missed out.

A couple of years ago, I finally got around to building the one that had been lingering in my stash since the late 1980's..... Don't think I ever shared pics of it here.

I was never happy with how the fade turned out, so I wound up giving it to my good friend, Frank, who thought it was too cool to just toss back in the box.

I bought one of these at a hobby shop in the Berlin Farmers Market in New Jersey when they first came out in 1980. I remember building it and taking second place at a model car contest in Pennsauken. It built very easily and was a lot of fun to detail. Thanks for posting and giving me a moment to reminisce.

This line of cars where actually supposed to be Big Name Funny Cars, but, the contract with the racers and NHRA went away, so MPC just released them under made up schemes.
