In the lower 48 these would often be called a "Plodge" being a Plymouth with Dodge trim.

I'd have found that hard to believe but I once talked to an old police officer from a smaller town in Northern California (Petaluma).  He mentioned that once (1971 or 72)  the police department got a new patrol car with a Plymouth front end and the remainder was Dodge.  He speculated that it was the end of that year's production run and they wanted to use up leftover parts.

During that era Chrysler products seemed to be the most common vehicles used by the CHP. As to your police officer friend's recollection of a Dodge with a Plymouth front end, there was a time, I don't recall the exact year models, that Dodge models with a more modest or lower line, which ever term may fit, front sheet metal was part of a base model. This may have been for fleet customers and the CHP along with other law enforcement agencies.

Holy smokes that’s beautiful. Last year of the Monarch, but one of the best looking years. Like the crown in the grille centre.

I've mentioned these models before, but they're worth mentioning again :

1971-1972 Swinger Special 340.

They were built in May '71 and again in May '72 for a couple of western Canada dealerships via special order ; they were batch-built .

Here's an FJ6 Green Go example - still with its original owner ! And a GB5 blue '72 , owned by / restored by my friend Cliff (Edmonton) 72-cliff-1972-swinger.jpg.607d2e6ab9e740177c52bbc1097c71bf.jpg

I was going through my old photos and found these to add to yours; a Swinger in Plum Crazy!!! I grew up in Granby, Quebec, Canada. I don't know what is it about that city, but a big portion of the population seemed to be into cars. In the summer, next to the Boivin Lake, was a huge antique and vintage car show, with even many people from the eastern US coming to show their beautiful cars. My Dad used to take me to that show every summer in the 90's, so I've got piles of photos!!!! I caught that Dart just as it was leaving!!! I can still remember the sound, as well as the sweet exhaust smell of that pre-catalytic converter car running on pre-ethanol fuel!!!! Those were the days!!!!
