eran_k Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I've been designing and printing parts for my models for some time now, this time i wanted to try a full car. so i found a file on cults and bought it. only to discover it's super basic and lack details. but the general shape was kind of right for what i wanted. and this car is not available in plastic kit form i added my own designed wheels and roof rack and tried to make it acceptable, defiantly not my best work in terms of finish and details, but for a primitive 3d model its not terrible. the surfboard is from Revell 37 ford kit. another difficulty i ran into was making the glass, the front glass you see is my attempt in vacuum forming which is far from perfect. apparently there is also a model on cults that looks a little better, i might try it one day. 7
oldscool Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Now that is something different. Ain't it funny how the square backs/notch backs/fast backs are almost extinct these days. 1
MattMiles32 Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Awesome work! On that windshield - I reckon the more you make, the more refined you'll get! Its a perfectly respectable starting point for such a complicated part! I'm super impressed! Do you mind me asking what software you've been using to design this in? I've got a background in Graphic design, and I've got a fresh copy of Blender - just need the time to dive in and learn how to use it (From what I see, its a steep learning curve!) Any recommendations on where to start with this sort of thing? 1

Thanks. i used fusion360, i'm much more familiar with it and it a good tool for "hard surface parts" i'm struggling to learn blender as well and it's indeed quite difficult. you can get a free version of fusion360 too. a bit limited but all the major features are there.

There’s one like this, only it’s light blue getting around my neighbourhood, guys probably had it for years, but yeah, not too many around now. Oh, that is a nice build too. ?? 1

XYHARRY Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Really cool square back there Eran, It's a shame no one offers the type 3 in kit form. Well done. Cheers, David. ?? 1
