When she first showed up my wife called someone, they told her if it doesn't appear sick, or suffering that there's not much they will/can do. Kinda a run around answer. We see this one regularly with a few other's, and with all the feeders on my property she's hanging on. She doesn't run away when she spots us, more inquisitive than scared. 1

Surprisingly my dogs pay no attention to the deer, she's been hanging on pretty well. No real predators around, I hear coy dogs from the farm down the road occasionally, the only thing I've ever seen up here was a fisher. Now those things are mean. 1
JollySipper Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Emmett got to meet his first deer this evening........ He smelled it long before he saw it! He knew it wasn't a dog right off.... Just kinda wagged at it, but was still being cautious. He's a really good dog........
Russell C Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Yesterday I thought if I doused this pot with water, the last sprig of the flowering plant might stay alive. No dice, too hot. Today, the cactus wren thanked me for a nice damp bowl of dirt to cool off in. Was around 113°F when I took this pic. Handy birds, native to southern Arizona here, they keep the excess spiders down to a dull roar. Scorpions keep the cricket population in check. 4
bobss396 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Finally got the deck cleaned up. The Harbor Fright washer worked well. 2
Falcon Ranchero Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Today was a sad day in the yard. This robin fledgling here in the video was perched on the wheel of the recycleing bin. About an our later he made his way over to the sill of one of the basement windows. After another hour I heard a ruckus outside, and almost a scream of some sort. Look out the window and this robin was being killed by a crow. Rushed out there to see if I could get the crow off, but as soon as I stepped out on the deck the crow picked it up in its beak and flew away with it. Just two hours prior this bird in the video was alive and just like that it was killed. Kinda sad now but that's just how nature is I guess. Bird Rob.mp4 2
TonyK Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I didn't know crows would attack a living thing to eat. Thought they were scavengers and just scrounged for food that way. Guess I learned something.....but it's sad. 1

Guess I learned something.....but it's sad. Crows are savage, known to raid nests for young birds. I saw one fly off with a baby cardinal. The parents chased it pretty far, dive bombing and pecking at the crow. My army of bluejays raise a ruckus when crows or hawks get too close.
rattle can man Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Technically last night, but five birds splashing in the bird bath like it was a kids pool party. 3

espo Posted Sunday at 07:06 PM Posted Sunday at 07:06 PM About 8 pm last night while sitting on the patio and the Golfers had all gone, we noticed the wildlife started coming out of the wooded areas and into the yard and the golf course. In a matter of minutes, we had 4 or 5 rabbits chasing each other around, a half dozen or more robins working the grass areas and finches and cardinals on the feeder. With the golf cart traffic gone they reclaim the back yard and the green. 4
Volzfan59 Posted Monday at 03:10 PM Posted Monday at 03:10 PM There’s guinea bird in our back yard this morning. We don’t own a guinea bird. I’m sure enjoying watching him move about. Since moving into the new place in the country, we’ve had a horse, a cow, few dogs and now a guinea bird stop by. I’m loving this new life. 3 1
TonyK Posted Monday at 04:58 PM Posted Monday at 04:58 PM I was out watering and working in the yard when a bug flew into my head. It hit so hard that it dropped to the ground stunned. Have no idea what it was but it always amazes me when I'm outside and get hit by a flying bug. There's a whole world out there and they manage to fly into me. Do they randomly fly into objects often? The enjoyable part of being outside is how often a hummingbird flies up and looks me up and down and then flies away. And I've never been hit in the head by one. 1 1

My girlfriend lives further out on Long Island from me. I'm on the south shore by the ocean and bay. She saw a family of turkeys a few days ago in a neighbor's yard. They strut up and down the street like they owned the place. She has a lot of property, like .56 acre plot that is partly cleared. She has gophers and chipmunks 🐿, something we don't have by me. 1

Falcon Ranchero Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Not an animal but I got my mower stuck my grandma's yard today. Usually I can do the slope part there but it got the rear wheel stuck in a dip and reverse wouldn't even get it out. Had to call my dad to come help get it unstuck. Didn't even make it around the lawn once before it got stuck.

It "unlocks" the hydrostatic drive so you don't damage it. They normally aren't too heavy and push easily.
