Thanks Brizio and JM …. I am still slowly plodding along here with this but I am patiently waiting for some decals, so I have had to temporarily slow down a bit. But once the stripe decals get here, I am hoping to get going again. It’s probably good to slow this down a bit as last week was a high cuss factor week. I found for some reason the roof of the sleeper was a bear to install and was giving me fits. I finally got it on but  am not at all happy with it, but somedays one just has to say ok you win. Hopefully once done it won’t detract too much from the final result …… hopefully.

Little update …. I’m going with aftermarket exhaust, specifically the Auslowe kit EX3. The kit is beautiful and I have  used them 3 or 4 times and they really make the build. On this build I didn’t care for the pipe itself as it was a bit long and to cut it on an angle would have been a challenge for me. I had some styrene tube the exact right size, and with my new razor saw and my old mitre box cut some pipes a little shorter…. covered them with the automotive ‘chrome’ tape and a small splash of paint on the inside and I have a couple clean pipes that in real life look pretty good. I am pleased with the final results. Not perfect but will work well for my application.

Stacks will look great, should really enhance the looks.

Thanks , Steve. I didn’t think I could cut the metal ones cleanly with out making a hash of it. And in real life it looks pretty good over all

Looking good, Jeff - what brand/type of chrome tape are you using?

No name stuff from Canadian Tire. Nothing special. It seems to buff up a bit if I rub it with a wooden dowel. I burnishes quite well considering it is fairly thick

My pleasure Randy ! Thanks for such kind words.  Been out of town and away from the bench for a bit but hope to have another update soon. Can’t wait to see more of your build…

Well not much of an update to show but took me all day to get this done and it looks way better in real life. And I still have more to add, but …. I’m sure I’m late to this party, but I had the chance to visit BC Hobbies in Victoria last week and was chatting with Bob about decal set liquids …. He told me not to waste a great deal of money on the commercial bottles, but rather use regular white table vinegar to soften decals.  So , armed with that tidbit, I thought I would give it a go. The decals that needed a little help to snuggle down were the stripes I got from Jerry at Model Truckin. I have to say the vinegar trick worked quite well. Like any decal set it takes a little patience and some fussing it worked ! I used those little micro brushes to work the decal over the door hinges. It looks great to the normal Mark 1 eye ball and I am happy with it. The photo is still a wip as the decals are not completely dry and done but it gives you an idea of how the vinegar does work. As mentioned , I’m sure this may be old news to most of you, but I was impressed.

Decals look really good

Thanks Gary. I had my fingers crossed the vinegar thing would work and not destroy them and it did give a favourable result. One more tool in the box as they say

Yup, I would be worried the vinegar would discolor the paint or worse. Might have to try it.

The curious thing to me was , when I was told this would work, if you sniff the Micro Sol it smells exactly like white vinegar….? that is part of the reason I gave this a try . I had some trepidation but thought I will never know unless I gave it a go and also thought that a fellow who makes his living selling models and accessories probably wouldn’t give me duff information as it may reflect badly on his business. But alas , it worked very well.

I must say I REALLY like the CTM p/e. The results ate really sweet.Just a little up date. Had to show the CTM p/e steps and the exhaust. Well worth the money. Well, for me at least..

I do have a slightly different set from CTM - they're similar to the steps in the pic of the tridem plow truck I posted awhile back.

Wow Jeff, that is looking really good. I am a big fan of the PE and CTM stuff, always adds a good bit of detail.

No kidding. It sure adds to the build. This is the first big up grade set I’ve used and it won’t be the last. Great quality and accurate details. Thanks for the kind words, Gary. I can almost see the finish line ….

Really awesome details! Those steps look like shrunk real ones! Amazing that tiny mesh!

That is one beautiful Pete you wouldn't see on the road everyday either!

You can be really proud of that build! ?
