Allison Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Hi guys question: I used Tamiya polishing compound coarse then fine and finish compound and my car model became very shiny. 1. should i spray Tamiya TS 13 gloss clear after those compound? 2. Can i use those compound every month to maintain the glossiness of my car model? thank you 1
rattle can man Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Real vehicles lose their shine because of sunlight, weather, pollutions, dirt, etc. Your model won't be exposed to these conditions, will it? Polish contains fine abrasives. If you polish every month, you eventually will polish through the paint. If you clear coat it, then you risk getting some texture that you will then need to polish out. I'd suggest just a good wax if you feel you need to do something. Dust with a soft brush once in a while;
Allison Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 Hi Rattle can man thank you for the advice and i will do what you suggested. again, thank you.
Miatatom Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I wouldn’t spray clear over a polished finish. 1
Exotics_Builder Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Polish is the LAST thing you do and not meant to be painted over in modeling. In one case I had a model polished, and it got a ding in one area. I repaired the ding, thoroughly cleaned the model, touched up the area and then repolished. But that is not the norm. 2
