Hey guys,

I'm a huge Dukes fan and belong to a couple of Dukes forums. We're having a model contest with builds of specific Lees.

This build is a replica of the original hero car known as LEE 3. It was originally an R/T SE car with a/c and a factory tan interior. Here's some of my pics so far. There's still a lot of work to do.

I weathered the chassis to look like it had been driven a while.

The seats are just mocked up, the flocking needs some touch up.

I'd appreciate the feedback.

I'll keep you updated.

Someone told me the other day the first Gen was black? when the Duke boys brought him home he was black, this looks like it has some real potential, great start....

Ok, I could use a little feedback on this.

I wanted to have a little bit of rust on the exhaust manifolds (as I'm building it, the car is supposed to be about 10 years old).

What do you think?

looks good! i love the general. I heard the original 1:1 LEE 3 was brush painted green and turned into an actual race car then found in some swamp and restored to the general it once was.

Looks good Me likey, which one are you building the general lee form the episode happy birthday general lee, (the black one) or are your refering to the first general lee, Lee 1. Also feel free to ask me some questions if you need to. I am a bit of a fan :( . one thing about the rust the first general lee was a southern car so really it would have had some heat burns and probley a little bit of rust here and there, but then again I'm only 99. 099% sure. Like what your doing so far so keep on keeping on.

Actually Glen that was Lee 1, the very first GL, also it was painted like that for episode #4 Repo Men, were the story tells us that it was a wrecked Richard Petty car. It was found in a junkyard In Covington Georgia, with Patrol 1 the first hazzard county patrol car, both were bought and toured shows in the Atlanta Georgia are until 2000 when both were bought by a Fellow Duke fan and restored, it took until december 2006 to finish and was shown at Oxford university in Oxford Georgia in front of thre very spot were it jumped the patrol car in one of the very first episodes I can't remember weather it was the first or second episode though. John schneider was there and jumped in it and gave a Yee Haw and blew the dixie horn. :D

Thanks for the compliments guys.

This car, known as LEE 3 was the original close-up car when filming first began.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. Isn't Lee 3 the one with no door decals that they took photo's of the cast with?

Well, it's all done. I added A/C lines, and wiring in the engine bay. The pushbar and CB antenna are scratchbuilt, and I added a radio antenna. I added an automatic 727 transmission and 8-3/4 rear end to the drivetrain. The interior has A/C vents in the dash and pedals and shifter for the auto tranny.

Thanks for looking,

Chris

that looks really good

but erm...i thought that decal with the two flags went on the rear windshield, not the trunklid ?

Nope. It goes on the filler panel between the glass and the deck lid. The engine in the General should have chrome valve covers and air cleaner too. There's an episode where you see from a distance, the engine hanging in the barn before they found the car. And the brake master and wiper motor are the wrong color though.

Man, that General Lee is awesome! Nice work!

What? No CB radio in the interior! Did I miss it, or was it not installed yet?

Thanks for the compliments.

Yes, there is a CB in there.

Later in the series the hero car did have chrome Moroso valve covers and a chrome deep dish air cleaner. It also had a sheet metal firewall cover, chrome hood hinges, and a chrome header panel.

This is a model of the original hero car as it was in the first five episodes when the filming first began in Georgia. There were numerous changes to the General over the run of the series (interior color changed, elimination of side marker lights, just to name a few).

It has the Dukefan69' Seal of aproval if that mean's anything, I like it it looks good and trust me I have seen my fair share of 1:1 and 1:25 but yours takes the cake for some of the 1:1's and most of the 1:25's.
