eran_k Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 (edited) As it happens, im going to be in the US for two weeks in November. This time area is north east (largely from NYC to Maine, but with Philadelphia at the end) i looked at the Events calendar and also searched the net but couldn't find any Models or Real Cars event that are in that area and i could visit. I hope you guys can help out a fellow modeler and Gear head to find something interesting to see, other wise ill have to go with the wife to all the outlets, malls and other shopping centers in sight...? Mark Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Are you arriving on the 24th? Thanksgiving Day is Thursday the 28th, with the day after that kicking off the Christmas shopping season. It's unlikely you'll find any shows taking place that weekend. From late October through mid December (excepting Thanksgiving weekend) some areas will have model/toy train related shows on the weekends. September and October (in my area, anyway) tend to have model and toy shows (revolving mainly around comic books and collector figures), then the train guys take over for the rest of the year. In my area, one guy is trying to establish a model car event, but held this year's one in August. The first one (last year) was in September. I think we might try to persuade him to go back to late September or early October. It's one thing to try to establish a date that doesn't conflict with anything else, but then again if nobody else is doing anything on that date, there might be a reason for that...
Rocketman455 Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is Chicago on the 23rd and 24th of November. I go every year. 1
eran_k Posted September 14, 2024 Author Posted September 14, 2024 Sorry guys I'll be more specific, my dates are November 4th to 18.
peteski Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Fall and Winter are usually seasons for model railroad shows. The club I'm member of has its show in early October, in Massachusetts. 1
Karl LaFong Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 The Simeone museum in Philly is THE premier auto racing museum in the Philadelphia area. Located about 10-15 minutes from I-95; it's mind-blowing what cars are in this collection! Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum (simeonemuseum.org)
bobss396 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 The Long Island LIARS club is on November 9th in Freeport NY. It is a pretty decent show with around 300 cars on the table. The vendors sell out every year.
john sharisky Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Since you mentioned Maine, try the Maine Classic Car Museum in Arundel. I went there in July (68 photos on my Facebook page). Terrific. It's worth booking and paying extra for the VIP tour (Louis was my docent). I got to look under the hood of and sit in cars that I've only seen in magazines. Maine Classic Car Museum
Racephoto1 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 If in Arundel, also go to Bentley Warren's bar. Bentley is an old racer, and has some interesting stuff. If he's there, he has some great stories.
