Looking good! The interior is really sharp, I love the colors you chose.

I've had hood fit issues on every single one of these Revell C10 kits that I've built, and I chalk that up to the multi-piece molding. I usually end up shimming the back and bottom of the hood with styrene strip. With a little work, you can get everything to line up. Although I will tell you, as someone who had a '64 GMC for years, the fit of the hood on the real thing wasn't much better!

Color went down well. All in all masking was successful-ish.

Looking good. I love that color! What little bleed through you got should be easy to clean up.

Just a tip re: the truck bed decals. The part of the decals that go around the wheel tubs are incorrectly colored silver to make them match the bed strips. They are body color, as they are part of the wheel tub. I usually cut that part of the decal away. It's a precision cut, but a little patience with a ruler and a fresh blade makes quick work of it.

Wow, that's a really keen observation. Sadly, I did not know that when I went about my masking.image.thumb.jpeg.01e4a2b9eafb7e40fa0accb3fca40fe5.jpeg

I may have to live with the inaccuracy. That brings up the question, did I need to mask off the bed to leave white primer? Or just paint it body color and decal over it?  Would that change the appearance of the decals?

I think those kit decals are opaque enough that they wouldn't be affected much by whatever color you put them over. Personally, I would spray the truck bed in body color if I'm using decals for the wood slats, etc.. It's been my experience that decals adhere better to a shiny surface vs. just primer.

Just a little overspray they said (see above). Should be an easy touch-up they said...image.thumb.jpeg.78db51548c4976478076642b14185f3d.jpeg

Obviously my masking job sucked, but here's the thing. Since I don't have an airbrush I rely on rattle cans. That always puts me in a tough situation when I need to do touchups on the body color. I have yet to find a consistent method of getting just a little paint from the can and having it be the right consistency to brush on. I tried spraying a "puddle" of the white on aluminum foil but it came out so thin that when I tried to brush it on it ran right under the tape. Also, when the white paint hit the green, which was dry a week, they mixed together and made more of a mess. I'll try fixing it once more, then I give! I knew from the start this would be a hard line to mask and get straight.

G’day Calvin. Hope you don’t mind me putting my thoughts into it. Looking at the pictures of the cab, I’d mask up the white roof and the black engine bay, gently rub the chipped areas with fine grit to soften the edges and reshoot the coral blue. You are right about it being hard to do small touch ups without an airbrush as Tamiya sprays tend to reactivate the previous coat when touching up with a brush. Hope you get it sorted. ??

That is the plan. Except I did not mask off the engine bay this time. I needed to get the paint down before sunset and the rain comes tomorrow. Cab is under a box to dry. Thanks for the heads up on Tamiya paints. I try not to overlap colors if possible.

That's a bummer, my friend.

It's a little late now, but if I use Tamiya TS sprays for a topcoat and get overspray, I'll use a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip to gently try to rub the offending color off. You have to be careful with this as you can burn through your topcoat, but a gentle touch works wonders a lot of the time. The method can dull the paint a little but the repair disappears under clear.

Sorry you had to repaint, that's just frustrating. ?

I use spray cans almost exclusively as well.  When it do 2-tone paint jobs, I always spray a quick light coat of the base color along the masking edges so that in the event the masking isn't tight, the base color is what seeps underneath the masking.  Then I apply the second color, and remove the masking as soon as the second color is almost dry.  I've done this for at least 40 years, and I've avoided the touch-up blues.

That is really clever. I'll have to keep that in the one in the toolbox.

I will add that when using the alcohol, I "DAB" the alcohol with a micro-applicator instead of rubbing to get the offending paint loose. Then I wipe off with a clean cotton bud to avoid the smears.

I hand painted the bottom to see if I wanted to use the kit decals.image.thumb.jpeg.5cd8e605d377b46d983dd6f50d4e3ae6.jpeg

I went with the decals.image.thumb.jpeg.490fbd06d5c8e2386d5833d646543041.jpeg

The decal cracked a bit along the raised detail of the rails. I kept applying solution, but that only did so much. It's not to noticeable.

That’s looking really good. You’re doing a real nice job onnit.

I think I’m going to pick this kit up and drop it in the weeds. It would look great slammed.

G’day Calvin, good to see you fixed your paint problem, looking forward to seeing it built. I’m building the same kit myself and that bed decal was a bit of a pain to get settled.

Thanks Stu. They only come out perfect sometimes...NOT! My builds are usually GFAD. Good from a Distance
