AmericanMuscleFan Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 I have always been amazed and excited by the possibilities that 3D printing offers. Knowing how hard the material is once printed, it's impressive to see all the modifications you've made so far. This proves once again that it is possible to achieve incredible things when you really want to, but that you often have to work hard to get there. Just the work you've done on the body shell to date is impressive and I can't wait to see the next stages of this project, it's my favorite class and era, I'll be an interested visitor! ?
Ian McLaren Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 (edited) First coat of primer on but there is a lot of body work that still needs to be done, but at least it's all one color, for a while, after the first two photos. Next two photos after a lot of blocking and sanding you can plainly see the ghosting of the low poly flat plains this STL file was full of (roof, fenders , doors and quarters). The two second photos do show that the overall proportions of the body are quite good when conpaired with photos of the original car. I guess I'm fairly happy with the progress so far and the lower windshield support and upper dash areas have been built and installed to stablize the body and position the hood properly, 5th photo Edited December 1, 2024 by Ian McLaren 3
Moparman18064 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 This has really come along very nicely since I last looked. It is really starting to look like Mr. Sheppard is about to climb behind the wheel. Looking forward to the coming updates.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Great work Ian, I've heard many times that sanding 3D printed bodies is like sanding rocks, so you deserve (again...) my admiration, you are a warrior my friend!!! The stance is absolutely perfect by the way! 👌

Tony Coomer Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Awesome work on the printing and body work. This is gonna be a very nice build
Ian McLaren Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 With the Pony Express pinto completed and the BubbleUp Trans Am waiting for just the clear to cure and be polished, I drug the R-M Pro Stock Camaro out and did some work on it. Primarily I cut the front clip of and cleaned up the resulting gaps. Right now it looks pretty grim with all of the repairs to the body contours that were necessary showing but it will be back in white primer shortly. I'll be starting on the rear floor pan and frame members next 4
Ian McLaren Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 First coat of primer and still a lot of body work to do, but the attitude is starting to show through 5
