Dave Ferguson Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Hi - Back in the day, I seem to remember someone offering a set of different photoetched rings as "Wizard's Os" but I cannot remember the supplier. Does anyone know if they are still available? Thanks! Dave Ferguson
rattle can man Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Scale Motorsport has them. I have no idea if they are the same as the originals.
Dave Ferguson Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 (edited) That was quick! Thanks!! Edited October 3, 2024 by Dave Ferguson
peteski Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I bought mine from RMCoM (Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland) some years ago. They came on flexible black vinyl backing sheet. Not sure if Norm still stocks them.
jaymcminn Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 The Scale Motorsport ones are definitely the same as RMCoM. From their site: "Originally created by the genius of Norm Veber at Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland, this set of concentric rings provides unparalleled detail applications. In fact the guys at the Newburgh Model Car Club were so devastated when Norm announced his supplier could no longer manufacture, they immediately turned to Scale Motorsport to see if we could bring this sheet back to model builders"
peteski Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 Curious. . . If they are the same as the RMCoM's then they would likely be made by the same manufacturer, so I wonder why Norm's supplier could no longer manufacture them. Maybe Scale Motorsports simply copied their design to make their own. Norm's original rings were etched from nickel silver. I wonder if Scale Motorsports are also nickel silver, or stainless steel?

I believe that Scale Motorsports has a different manufacture than what Norm had. I'll see Norm next week at our next model club meeting (MAMA's) so I'll make sure to ask him. 1
