Gary Chastain Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Progress: finally getting the fuel tanks built. Battery boxes built and ready for paint. Forgot to chrome the fuel caps. 3
BK9300 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I agree - going to look even better than it does now, once the cab is painted - this red is a great colour!
Gary Chastain Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 (edited) Progress has been slow lately, little under the weather, but making some progress. Battery boxes coming together, will disassemble and do final assembly on battery boxes. adding as much chrome work to bring out the paint. Edited January 17 by Gary Chastain Add pic 2
BK9300 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Your truck is really looking dressed up, Gary - very sharp indeed! Hope you get rid of what's ailing you soon. 2
Biggu Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Get well buddy. Truck is awesome ! Love the General battery boxes. 1
Firebuilder Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Gary, looks great. The tri axle is awesome. Really like the color! Dom
Gary Chastain Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Well I have made a rookie mistake, the steps on the battery boxes do not align with the steps on the fuel tanks. I have mocked this up several ways and just not happy with my battery boxes. I can get the top step to align but then the bottom step is way to high. So I am starting over and scratch building another set. 1

Biggu Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Gary, I know it is probably too late for this idea...... on our Western Stars we had the same sort of issue with the step being high on the drivers side, and Western Star put another lower step on a rubber strap below the main fixed one, it was much easier to get into the truck, until one of the guys tore it off that is.. could you leave the higher step on the battery box and just add a lower step to line up with the one on the fuel tanks? Just a random thought.....
BK9300 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Maybe you could keep the painted battery box and make different support braces for the sides, to mount the PE steps on, rather than re-making the whole battery box? Going to look great once you've got it sorted! 1
Gary Chastain Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 Well guys, getting old isn’t fun. I have had a couple members message me, so thought I would explain. Last Thursday night I got very sick and was taken to the hospital. I had been having some days not feeling well. Emergency room diagnosis was a stroke but that turned out to be incorrect after a brain scan followed by a ton of other tests. I have a bad heart valve that needs replaced soon. Home now. Doctor appointment today another doctor appointment tomorrow. I will be away for awhile so this can get worked out. Just dropping you guys a message, it will turn out fine. 5
Rockford Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Oh mate I'm so sorry to hear that. No, getting old isn't for wimps. I'm going to that many medical appointments there's no point being well, I'm never free! Hope you're feeling better soon and they get you sorted. 2
