Jürgen M. Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Amazing. They don't look like it! Really cool build idea! Keep the Progress going! I'm in the front row! 🍿🍺 1
leafsprings Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Nice progress on this Heavy Chevy! Glad to see another medium-heavy being built! Maybe a Cat V8 diesel could have been retrofitted after the original 427 blew. 1
RoninUtah Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 What a cool build! Looks great so far, great choices for everything! 1
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) Thanks for the comments guys! I think I’m going to call this one “Johnny Cash.” I want it to portray the lowest budget, pieced together owner operator rig possible. Maybe a produce hauler. Biggu Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Gotta LOVE the old gas pots …. A very rare thing to see these days. This is a sweet build. Looking forward to more ….
Rockford Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Nice looking combination, well done. Is the sleeper going to be "shiny" or painted? 1
37 caddy Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I remember seeing a lot of these on the road back in the day. They were quite popular with the small operators, today no one runs a gas tractor, everyting is now diesel around here. 1

BK9300 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Great job on the weathering of your cab! I have to learn how to do this. . . 2

It isn’t a tall deck, but it wouldn’t be noticeable in scale. I don’t think that I am going to open the hood anyway. The Road Boss will be donating the chassis. Here is the inspiration picture. It was on Facebook. Great build Brian! I remember working on some 366 powered C50 -60 trucks,,,with propane conversions! 1
Scott Eriksen Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 ..............and a couple of 4-53T 's ! I think those were C70's 1
Old Buckaroo Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Funny, when I saw the prototype truck pic I was thinking of the song "Wolf Creek pass" although they were hauling chickens instead of produce. Brian if you need a dual snorkel air cleaner for this let me know - Ive got some , or you gonna give it one of those nasty oil bath filter systems?? 1

This is 3d printed, but under the nose of the hood the resin is still soft. The outside seems solid, so I’m going to leave well enough alone. The 427s had intakes on each side of the hood at the front, but if the hood had been changed, a hood without them may have been used. 2

The mechanic I was apprenticed to gave me a lecture about how good they were. They filter out so much airborne grot without restricting the efficiency of the intake system when they get dirty, unlike the modern cartridge filters. He taught me to respect 'old', newer is not always better in every way. Sorry to digress. I'll be quiet now. Except to say, that's one cool looking beast of a truck.
